At CES 2024, XREAL, the innovators behind the XREAL Air 2 AR glasses, introduced an exciting new device offering a cost-effective solution for immersive experiences, rivalling Apple’s Vision Pro Mixed Reality headset and Meta Quest 3. The latest addition to their lineup, the XREAL Air 2 Ultra, boasts a sleek titanium ring frame, wide compatibility with Android, Mac, and Windows platforms, and a cutting-edge spatial computing system supported by an array of sensors for real-time 3D interactions.

Debuting at CES 2024, XREAL showcased the Air 2 Ultra, now available for developers to craft tailored experiences. The device is open for pre-orders, starting at $699, with deliveries slated for March.

The XREAL Air 2 Ultra features the groundbreaking Nebula launcher, elevating spatial computing capabilities. Equipped with advanced in-frame sensors, it enables precise location mapping within a 3D environment. Developers can leverage hand tracking, 3D mesh creation, semantic scene understanding, and future AI integrations, enhancing user experiences.

In terms of specifications, the Air 2 Ultra boasts Full HD displays for each eye, delivering a 52-degree field-of-view (FoV) with 42 pixels per degree (PPD), surpassing Apple’s Vision Pro. With a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 500 nits, it employs state-of-the-art technology akin to XREAL Air 2, renowned for its performance.

XREAL extends support for Apple’s spatial video feature across its Air 2 series, allowing users to convert iPhone 15 Pro’s spatial videos for immersive viewing. The device, targeted as a fashion accessory, showcases a titanium frame for durability, weighing just 80 grams and offering customizable fit options.

Available for pre-order at $699, the XREAL Air 2 Ultra ships in March 2024. The latest NRSDK, built on Unity, enhances hand tracking and gesture recognition, promising groundbreaking AR experiences. Compatibility spans Mac, Windows, Samsung Android phones, and iPhone 15, with potential for broader device support in the future.

As XREAL revolutionizes AR smart glasses, anticipation builds around the developer community’s response and the myriad applications envisioned for the XREAL Air 2 Ultra. With its affordability and advanced features, it heralds a new era of immersive computing experiences.
