Meta partnered with Ray-Ban and launched it’s first smart glasses in 2023, hence the name Ray-Ban Meta.

Yes, the charging case looks exactly like a typical Ray-Ban case with a LED lamp indicating charging or fully charged. The glasses are charged by discreet connectors under the bridge of the nose. 

Place the smart glasses in their charging case and connect the case to a power adapter using a USB-C cable into the bottom of the charging case. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet. 

The speakers on the Ray-Ban Meta are pretty good, acctually they provide a better sound compared to many headphones.

One of the features Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses offer is calling and receiving phone calls. You don’t have to pick up your phone to make a call, simply use voice assistant and tell it to call the person you wish to call. 

With the help of the application: Meta View available on Google Play or Apps Store you can manage your smart glasses.

After downloading the Meta View Application you can easily pair your smart phone with your smart glasses using bluetooth. 

You can livestream using Ray-Ban smart glasses with Instagram or Facebook. Just follow these steps: 

  1. Click on the + sign in your application.
  2. Tap Live.
  3. Tap Video then tap Next.
  4. Tap  on the left to connect to your glasses.
  5. On your glasses, double press the capture button to switch to your smart glasses camera.
  6. Tap Go Live to start your livestream.

Yes, you need to have the smart glasses connected to your smart phone with bluetooth to operate them.

XREAL AIR 2 & AIR PRO 2

Nreal rebranded to Xreal in 2023 after legal disputes with Epic games. 

Xreal aims to bring Augmented Reality for everyone with its fair prices and multi-functional smart glasses. In January 2024, Xreal announced it has secured $60 million in a new round of strategic funding. 

The main difference is the electrochromig dimming functionality available only in the Pro’s. 

Electrochromic dimming is when material, in this case the lenses changes color in response to electrical stimulus. 

The electrochromic dimming functionality can be easily switched on with a single-click allowing the user to adjust the level of surrounding light you want the lenses to let through. 

In the darkest state of electrochromic dimming, the user will be able to see 0.1% of the real world, preserving visual contact with the outside environment.  

XREAL claims that you can connect the AR glasses to pretty much everything, whether it is your smart phone, personal computer or gaming console. Compatibility information can be found the end of each of the Experience pages on Xreals website.

If you use prescription lenses there are three options:

  1. You can purchase prescription lenses from their partners. 
  2. You can get custom lenses made at a local optical store with the help of the insert provided in the package when you buy the Xreal Air 2’s. 
  3. You can use contact lenses before putting on the glasses.

Certainly! Xreal Air 2 serves as a versatile external display compatible with phones, consoles, or PCs. You have the flexibility to utilize Bluetooth earbuds, provided your device is Bluetooth-enabled. For devices such as iPhones, selecting the earbuds as the output speaker may be necessary

The brightness of the display is rated at 500 nits, which is 100 nits brighter compared to previous Airs. 

With two small speakers built into the frames the sound quality has been significantly upgraded. The sound is more directional towards your ears and the sound quality is good. 

No. You can’t capture video or take pictures with the Xreal Air 2’s.

The Micro OLED displays are made by Sony.

THE BEAM

The Xreal beam represents an exclusive add-on crafted specifically for Xreal Air AR glasses, offering users a distinctive spatial display encounter.

The beam can be turn any video output into a spatial display. With the beam connected you can view a 330″ screen in the air. It works like an extra brain to the Xreal Air 2 smart glasses. 

With the beam connected you can unlock the Xreal Air 2 smart glasses full potential. Having a beam connected will allow the user to view any video output in three different modes. 

Smooth Follow: In this mode, the display is projected directly in front of your head, synchronizing its movement with yours as you turn. This ensures the display is consistently positioned in front of you, offering seamless viewing. By default, the glasses operate in this mode when connected directly without the beam. However, Xreal suggests a superior smooth follow experience when connected to the beam, particularly beneficial in environments with significant vibration, such as on a plane or bus.

Sideview: This mode reduces the screen size and places it in one of the four corners in front of you. The aim is to enable you to watch content while maintaining a complete view of your surroundings. If you’re someone who values multitasking, this mode is ideal for you.

Body Anchor: In this mode, the display remains fixed in front of you. Even as you move your head, the screen stays in place, allowing you to concentrate on a specific area. Essentially, it replicates the experience of watching content on a fixed TV screen.

Yes, you connect your gaming console to the beam and the beam to your smart glasses. 

You can connect Xbox series X/S, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch.

Yes, you can connect the beam to your computer. A USB-C output is required to make the connection work, if you don’t have one you will need an adapter to make the connection work. 

Yes, the beam can be connected to smartphones. 

RAYNEO AIR 2

The company behind the different Ray-Neo smart glasses is TCL.

You can widen the temples by about 30 degrees to fit different head shapes. But right now, you can’t adjust them up and down.

It’s not a good idea to take apart the glasses yourself. If the temples break, get in touch with customer service. They’ll fix or replace them based on your situation.

The glasses themselves can’t connect wirelessly.

 
 

The glasses only work with USB-C ports. Most Android devices, computers, and tablets use USB-C and can connect directly to the glasses. You’ll need a special adapter to connect the glasses to devices with iOS ports.

You can easily attach nearsighted or farsighted lenses to the glasses using magnets. There’s no need to adjust them manually.

Wearing your own prescription glasses over the smart glasses may result in more pressure on the nosepads, causing some discomfort. 

Ray-Neo Air 2 smart glasses have an IPX4 rating, indicating they’re splashproof. If they get wet, simply wipe them dry with the cloth provided in the protective case.

No. Ray-Neo Air 2 smart glasses don’t have a microphone or camera to support such function.

THE JOYDOCK

The JoyDock works like a power bank and can be used to play different games on the go with 120Hz connecting your smart glasses and gaming console to a one-hub charging station.

The JoyDock has a 5000mA battery which allows you to play video games on the go. You’ll find three outputs on the JoyDock: one for linking the your gaming device, another for connecting your Ray-Neo smart glasses, and a third for power/charging. There’s a battery level indicator to display your remaining charge.

OhO Sunshine’s are smart glasses designed and developed by OhO. The Sunshine model come in many different shapes and variants offering different key features. 

OhO smart glasses have temples, hinges, a bridge, a complete frame and glasses just like any regular pair of glasses. The key difference is the technology in the temples, once you connect with bluetooth to your Sunshine’s you’ll be able to utilize the digital eyewear capabilities. 

It depends on which OhO Sunshine’s you choose. OhO have named many different product models with their same name, “Sunshine”. Most of them are equipped with microphones, speakers, voice control and sweatproof protection. 

OhO Sunshine’s are the best selling smart glasses on Amazon and they offer many different features for an affordable price.

There are the more expensive OhO’s where you can video record and take screenshots directly from the camera situated on the center of the bridge above the nose. 

Yes, you can connect to OhO Sunshine’s with Android or iOS.
